After Delhi Government’s announcement, IP University is ready to train health assistants for the third wave of COVID. Nine Delhi-based medical institutes will be training the students. Because of the sudden peak in cases during the second wave, Delhi found itself short of front-line workers. To ensure better management, the decision to train health assistants is taken. IP University health assistants will have the training for basic COVID care. As a result of which, more frontline workers will be on duty if the third wave arrives.

Which colleges will provide training?
A total of 9 medical colleges of IP University will be carrying out this program. The list includes the likes of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital. Other institutes include Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and Medical College, ESI – PGIMSR. The full list of nine institutes is as follows:-

As a result of IP University health assistants, Delhi is hoping to fight with the third wave with full force.
Selection and structure
Online forms are filled by the candidates to show interest in this program. Initially, 500 candidates are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis. IP University aims to train 5000 health assistants by the end of this program. All the institutes will have a batch of 50 students to train. Only Safdarjung hospital will train two batches of 50 students. It will be a two-week-long program. It will train the candidates about basic medication, fitting oxygen concentrators, taking care of COVID patients, and more.
