Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked students to come up with innovative concepts or models and forward them for their use in a big way, PM Modi on Saturday during a video conference with a student Ms. M Shwetha who came up with a model on embankments during the Smart India Hackathon (SIH).
What Is An Embankment?
An embankment is made of compacted soil on the periphery of the natural water bodies that protect people from any water overflowing into the adjacent areas.
Model Presented By M Shwetha
M Shwetha, a fourth-year student of M.Sc (Software Systems) of Sri Krishna Arts and Science College developed the model of an embankment and how the replica could help prevent loss of life and property if there were a breach.

Suggestions By Shwetha
She further added this danger can be prevented if it is known that when the next breach is going to occur. Students can help the government in taking preventive measures by studying breach pattern and predict it when it is going to occur. This can be done with the help of machine learning, she added.
Shwetha further said that local residents can also help and support the government. This can be taking photographs of embankments and uploading them on the portal with information about breaches. This would help in averting natural disasters in time.
PM Modi’s Response
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Shwetha with a Vanakkam and asked her to prepare a training model on an embankment and take the idea and presentation further to the concerned authorities for implementation i.e. Central Water Commission.
Another Innovation By M Kundan
A student from PSG College of Technology, M Kundan designed a chatbot and explained his work on security and surveillance. He said many people do not feel comfortable going to the police stations physically, so here the chatbox can be useful. People can use this to file their complaints without going to the police station.
PM Modi suggested Kundan develop the chatbot in all regional languages.
Chairperson and managing trustee of Sri Krishna Institutions S Malarvizhi, its CEO Dr. K Sundararaman and principal Dr. J Janet attended the session via video conference. Sri Krishna Institutions is the only nodal center in Tamil Nadu which was selected for interaction with the Prime Minister.
