#EducationMinisterGoesLive Today To Address Students’ Queries

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ shared some important updates with the Students today under the #EducationMinisterGoesLive Webinar. During his initial remarks, he recalled that last he had connected with students on 10th May i.e. before the examinations were held; but since then many things have been streamlined to manage education of students amid the pandemic. However, he also said that change is the norm of the day and that students should be ready to tackle the reformative changes that are being proposed as part of the New Education Policy 2020.

Some key highlights of the webinar are as follows-

The last three questions answered by Education Minister were about the NEET 2021 entrance exam, wherein students asked him about possibility of cancellation of the exam, on dates for NEET 2021 exam and mode of the exam.

Answering these questions, Mr Pokhriyal completely ruled out any possibility of cancellation of the medical entrance exam. About dates and mode of NEET 2021 exams, the minister said that as of now the officials are trying to work out the modalities about the medical entrance exam and that soon details about dates and mode of the exam will be conveyed to the students.

In response to a query on reduction in syllabus for JEE 2021 and NEET 2021, the minister said that currently the exam syllabus for the competitive entrance exams are under discussion. He also hinted that post discussion, if needed, the exam pattern, style, format and syllabus might be revised to facilitate better testing facilities.

Addressing a question from students about postponement of CBSE Board Exam 2021, Education Minister said that as of now the Board has no plans to delay or postpone the board exams. Without giving any clear answer on postponement of the exam, Education Minister said that the Board will ensure that students get enough time to prepare for the upcoming board exams.

In response to another query about reduction in the overall syllabus for Class 10 and 12 students by 30%, Mr Pokhriyal said that the new or revised syllabus for the CBSE board exam 2021 is already available on official website cbse.nic.in from where students can refer the same. He also asked teachers and school administrators to make students aware about the same.

In his address, Education Minister also said that during the pandemic the country also started implementing one of the long pending and most important step with regards to Indian Education system – i.e. New Education Policy 2020. He said that NEP 2020 has the power to Reform, Transform and Perform and help students build a bright future for themselves and the country.

In his address to students and parents, Mr Pokhriyal also touched upon the topic of school reopening. He informed that as many as 17 states have reopened the schools across the country. He said that despite reopening of school the attendance has remained low owing to the pandemic; but he expressed confidence that soon the class-room based learning would resume in full-force.

Ending the webinar, Educatoin Minister congratulated all teachers, parents and students on how they have accepted the challenge and would continue to do so. He reassured everyone that all the suggestions would be considered and all possible consideration would be given to all.
